About
My name is Sia and I am currently a junior graduating May 2025. I transferred from MSU after my freshman year and have loved UMich since. My major is Biology, Health, and Society and I am on the pre-med track. I grew up in Holland, MI but spent a fair amount of time in Calcutta, India- one of my favorite places. I love hanging out with my dog, Oliver, and trying new food. My favorite artists are Taylor Swift and $uicideboys- polar opposites I know. I loved my time in UROP because of the connections I made with my PF and research mentors, it provided me with an amazing support system as a transfer student. At Umich I am involved in many other clubs including serving as the director for the Scientistas which is a club that focuses on providing professional and social opportunities for women in STEM. I also serve as the internal vice president of Tri Omega, Michigan's first premier wellness fraternity. I love learning about different cultures and languages, I currently speak Spanish and am fluent in Hindi. I usually spend my summers in India and have even been to school there. Calcutta is my favorite place in India because of the food, beauty, and all of my family there. I am really looking forward to this year and my classes, I love school and studying. Orgo has been my all-time favorite class so far and I am excited to take biochem this fall. I am involved in research with Michigan Med’s anesthesiology department in their chronic pain and fatigue center researching how cannabis impacts veterans lives. I am super excited to be leading this seminar in Health Sciences and hope to be a resource for my students.
