About
My name is Julia Egnaczyk and I am a junior majoring in Public Health. I plan to graduate Spring of 2025 and hope to attend medical school a few years after graduation. I’m passionate about health equity and hope to bring higher quality care to underserved populations as a physician one day. I grew up in Manlius, NY, a small town outside of Syracuse. My first year of college I attended Binghamton University, and then transferred to Michigan my sophomore year despite being born and raised an Ohio State fan (sorry Brutus).
UROP was an awesome experience because it introduced me to the many wonders of the research world. It brought me so many valuable connections to faculty and other transfer students like myself through the Changing Gears program. I’m excited to now give that opportunity to other students as well. I still work on the research project I found through UROP, the BlueLink project under Michigan Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Anatomical Sciences. My position there is to create multimedia educational resources for the medical students that are made available to anatomy learners worldwide. I loved my fellow research assistants, research mentor, and PIs so much I just couldn’t leave!
In my free time, I dabble in cooking and play mediocre tennis. I love to hike in Upstate NY, but Michigan’s flat terrain poses a challenge for that hobby. This summer I began working as a server at Isalita and I’m passionate about their Forest Mushroom Empanadas. Here at Michigan, I’m also an editor for the Undergraduate Journal of Public Health and member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
