About
Hey! My name is Jack, and I’m a junior studying chemical engineering with minors in chemistry and economics. I’m from Brighton, MI which is about thirty minutes from AA. After undergrad, I plan to do a PhD in chemical engineering working on something related to pharmaceuticals. Currently, I do research in the PSI group of the materials science and engineering department (which I connected with through UROP!) on membrane-based separations.
Outside of being a UROP PF, I’m involved in Tau Beta Pi (TBP) and Blood Drives United. I’m also an IA for section 350 of ENGR 100 (the best section), and was an organic chemistry study group facilitator for two terms. I also volunteer to facilitate sections of the common reading experience for first-year engineers each fall.
If I’m not in the lab or studying in the SSWB atrium, I’ll be playing tennis, reading, watching American Horror Story, collecting sneakers, or taking a late night drive. I also love comedy shows (especially Kurtis Conner), sweetgreen kale caesars, hydrangeas, and Emma Chamberlain. Most importantly, if you couldn’t tell with all these lists, I am a passionate supporter of the Oxford comma ;)
I was a UROP student my sophomore year and had an incredible experience. I learned so much about myself, and the program helped to shape my future career aspirations. I’m looking forward to learning from many more UROP students this year as a PF!
