About
My name is Danny Dixon, and I'm a junior studying linguistics! I plan on graduating in 2025, and after that I hope to continue studying linguistics in graduate school. I'm also pursuing a minor in computer science, so I'm excited to see how I'll be able to combine those interests down the road. I'm very interested in second language acquisition, and I hope to do research on different methods of second language acquisition in the future. I grew up in Alma, MI (about 2 hours northwest of A2), and I love visiting home because that's where my partner's and my cats live - Catty, Clementine, and Peach! Outside of school, I really enjoy making music of all kinds, especially with my twin brother who I've been playing music with for most of my life. I'm currently trying to get better at music production, and hopefully I'll be able to actually finish a song someday! I also really enjoy learning languages, cooking (ideally) yummy vegan food, and knitting. I love traveling with my partner and my family, especially when we're going to visit my relatives in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In the future, I hope to find a career where I can pursue my interests and do good in the world, though I'm not sure entirely what that career will be yet. Currently, I'm a proud member of Ann Arbor's Inter-Cooperative Council and the UM Animal Ethics Society, and I play violin in the Campus Philharmonic Orchestra. I'm very grateful to UROP for exposing me to the world of research and for helping me to connect with lots of great people!
