UROP Awards and Sponsors

UROP is now recognized as a model program for engaging undergraduate students in research. In 2002 U.S. News and World Report ranked UROP Number 1 in the category, Undergraduate Research/Creative Projects. UROP has consistently ranked at the top of this category in the ensuing years.

The program has also received the following awards:

  • Community Prevention Partnership Award (1995). State of Michigan. Special Tribute
  • Theodore M. Hesburgh Award (1996). Certificate of Excellence for Faculty Development to Enhance Undergraduate Teaching
  • NSF Recognition Award for the Integration of Research and Teaching (1997). Shared recognition with U-M's Women In Science Program
  • Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (1999).
