November 2019
It’s been eight years since the approval of partial funding for the Biological Sciences Building and the museum’s new home, and six months since the first half of the museum was opened. Finally, the entire museum is open! Discover what to explore during your visit, including our planetarium, museum store, membership options, all thanks to our friends and supporters!
September 2017
In the fall of 1983, University of Michigan freshman Jim Bahen heard about a campus job that involved dinosaurs. He walked past the pumas, into the Rotunda and became a UMMNH student docent. He would later describe it as “one of his best Michigan experiences.”
February 2018
The University of Michigan Museum of Natural History ended nearly 90 years in the Ruthven Museums Building on December 31, 2017. Read about our final night in Ruthven, where former student docents, former employees, and generations of visitors filled the halls during the Last Day at the Museum.
