Student Docents

Docent Program

Docents help with programs for groups and visitors, birthday parties, events, the museum store, the planetarium and much more.  Docents receive extensive paid training in informal education, customer service and basic instruction in several natural history topics, including paleontology, wildlife and ecology. This is a paid position.

The museum typically hires new docents twice a year.  Applications are available in August for positions beginning in September/October and in March for positions beginning in May.

Applications for fall 2025 are now open.

The Museum is currently accepting Docent Applications.  The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 3rd.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION:

To work at the Museum, you must have 3-hour blocks of time available between 9 am and 2 pm on at least two weekdays and be able to work some weekends. Because of the nature of this position, a regular schedule is not possible.
Please complete BOTH sections (Section I: Questions and Section II: Availability Fall 2025) of the application.  Your application is not complete without both sections.
