Collaborations

Telling It is proud to be a membership organization with various professional entities related to our work. We belong to the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), a nonprofit organization that seeks to amplify the expressive arts around the world.

We are also members of the Washtenaw Alliance for Children and Youth (WACY), a collaboration of youth-serving agencies dedicated to improving services, quality of life and success for young people in our community.

We also belong to, and follow the ethics of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Founded in 1955, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

Summer 2024: The incredible rap, R&B and spoken word group Aint Afraid (aintafraid.com) visited Telling It at the Washtenaw County Children’s Services Detention Center. Inah and Yahzi, along with Telling It team Deb, McCrea Deezer, Bryce The Third and Kelly, met with all the youth in the center together – a first! Aint Afraid led a music, poetry and rapping session and the youth LOVED it! They shared and they wrote, they supported each other and they surprised each other. It was an AMAZING experience for everyone.
Winter 2024: Telling It Staff, (McCrea Deezer, Bryce The Third, Kelly Kundrat and Deb Gordon-Gurfinkel), U-M Students, (Ali Manly and Nitya Marimuthu) at the Washtenaw County Children’s Services Juvenile Detention Center with visiting Brazilian practitioners Vicente Concilio, Caro Vetori and Laís Jacques Marques, who are experienced in running theatre programming with incarcerated youth and adults.
