Deep Dive into Playposit

Playposit is a powerful interactive video tool, useful for creating course videos that include formative and summative assessments, empowering peer review or student created learning resources.
by LSA Learning & Teaching Technology Consultants

Playposit is a powerful interactive video tool available to all LSA courses. By using Playposit, instructors can create interactive experiences, called “bulbs”, using course videos that engage students through real-time questions and interactions within the video player. Videos can easily be integrated into Canvas, placed into curated playlists, and woven into existing or newly created modules. Playposit also has features enabling students to create their own interactive video content and develop learning resources. Students can also use Playposit as part of a Peer Review process, allowing students to provide and receive feedback within the tool. Analytics are made available to instructors to see data on viewership, engagement, and performance. Questions within Playposit can be used for both summative and formative assessments and can be connected to the Canvas gradebook. On our page for Playposit, we have compiled links to tutorials and workshop recordings to help you get started. Playposit also has a one-hour interactive academy to teach you how to use the tool within canvas.

However, this only scratches the surface of what can be accomplished using Playposit. Starting with additional resources that are available, Playposit’s parent company WeVideo has compiled a list of resources on their website to dive deeper into the use cases and features of Playposit. There are regularly scheduled webinars through WeVideo that cover a wide variety of topics related to Playposit. Themes of these webinars include topics such as accessibility, universal design for learning, non-instructional uses for Playposit, or how best to leverage analytics. These webinars are available on-demand to watch at your convenience.

Also included on WeVideo’s Playposit resource site is a library of use cases for Playposit, each presented using Playposit interactive bulbs. Examples include creating self-check lessons, discussion posts with learner created content, scaffolded writing exercises, as well as a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies. Lastly, WeVideo maintains an extensive knowledge base that contains help articles for every aspect of using Playposit. If you have technical issues with PlayPosit, you can request assistance directly to the Playposit team at help@playposit.org.

Additionally, if you’d like to discuss how Playposit might be most useful in your course, please feel free to request a consultation with the LSA Learning and Teaching Consultants. We would be happy to meet with you to discuss your course’s specific needs and learning objectives.
