Scholarships & Awards

The CEW Scholarship Program, which today serves women and nontraditional students, was established in 1970 to honor the academic performance and potential of women whose education has been interrupted. CEW Scholarship Awards are invaluable they often mean the difference between completing a degree or not doing so, for many students at the University of Michigan.

Students of any gender may apply. Over 40 scholarships are available, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.

Eligibility: A minimum two-year (24 month) consecutive interruption in education anytime since high school OR Primary Caregiver*

*Primary Caregiver definition:

• Lives in the same residence at least 50% of the time and consistently assumes major responsibility for housing, health, and safety of a minor, older adult, or disabled adult; anticipates this responsibility will continue during the upcoming academic year.

• Lives in separate residence and provides care for a minor, older adult, or disabled adult for a minimum of 20 hours per week without monetary compensation for at least the past 6 months; anticipates this responsibility will continue during the upcoming academic year.

Apply for the Center for Education of Women Scholarship

The NCID Postdoctoral Fellowship is a one-year (12 month) fellowship that follows a visiting scholar model, aimed at promoting and supporting the work of outstanding early career diversity scholars. While we welcome new PhD applicants, successful candidates may also currently hold tenure-track positions. This program provides a unique opportunity to serve as a scholar in residence with protected time for focused scholarship, as well as to engage with the rich intellectual community at the University of Michigan.

Eligibility: Applications are welcome from scholars engaging in diversity scholarship, in any field or department represented in the University of Michigan’s schools and colleges. Applicants’ doctoral degrees should be completed between January 1, 2011 and July 1, 2018.
