Foundation for Modern Greek Studies Fellowships for Study in Greece
The Foundation for Modern Greek Studies offers fellowships for modern Greek language study in approved programs in Greece. The fellowships provide funding for transportation, tuition, and other expenses to University of Michigan students of exceptional promise. Fellowships are for summer study. Department of Classical Studies Modern Greek Prizes
Each year the Department of Classical Studies presents top undergraduate students with awards acknowledging outstanding achievement and excellence in their field of study. Winners are honored at the Phillips Classical Prize Ceremony held in April. The awards are made possible through the benevolence of University of Michigan alumni and patrons of the Classics. Modern Greek Prizes are awarded to top undergraduate students for excellence demonstrated in a Modern Greek translation competition in both the elementary and intermediate levels. Hellenic Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs Scholarship for Study in Greece
For the past four years, the Greek Ministries of Culture have offered a scholarship to a student who is studying the Greek language at the University of Michigan. The student is selected by the Instructor for achievement in the study of Greek. The scholarship supports undergraduate summer study at the Modern Greek summer session in Thessaloniki at the Institute for Balkan Studies.
Calliopi Papala Politou Student Prize
Angeliki (Angela) Evangelinos, Professor Emerita of Economics and Business at Monroe Community College, has endowed the Calliope Papala Politou Student Prize in memory of her mother for the benefit of U-M undergraduate concentrators in Modern Greek. For more information click here.

Carrie Arbour Scholarship (for Modern Greek Majors)
Eligibility: The Carrie Arbour Scholarship assists "worthy and needy students" in Classical Studies. Undergraduate students in all departmental majors are eligible. It serves primarily to help students who could not otherwise afford study abroad, both in the summer and during the academic year.
Information: The Carrie Arbour Scholarship serves primarily to help students who could not otherwise afford study abroad, both in the summer and during the academic year. The Scholarship will, for example, assist students who are working on excavations, attending summer schools, or participating in programs such as the Intercollegiate Center in Rome. It may also be used for other summer programs. Recipients of the Scholarship are required to write a brief report about their experience for the department's website and/or newsletter
AHEPA Automotive District 10 Scholarships
The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Automotive District 10, has endowed a fund for the benefit of students of Modern Greek language, history, and culture. The AHEPA Automotive District 10 Fund will be used for the direct and explicit benefit of students to promote the cultural and educational development of the students of Modern Greek language, history, and culture through activities including, but not limited to: study, travel, research, internships, reading and translation, as determined by the faculty in the Modern Greek Program.
