About
The Kozik lab investigates host-microbe and microbe-microbe crosstalk in the human airway, with a particular interest in deciphering the role of Prevotella sp. in the airway.
Prevotella is one of the dominant genera in the human airway and is commonly found in the microbiomes of several other body sites. It is occasionally implicated in inflammation and dysbiosis-associated diseases. However, little is known about the contributions of specific members of Prevotella to asthma-associated airway inflammation and the environmental factors that may influence them or their behavior.
The lab is also interested in host-microbiome dynamics in the respiratory tract during chronic disruption, as well as novel interdisciplinary approaches to interrogate the relationships between the microbiome, host, and environment in populations impacted by systemic inequity.
