Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology
About
Research from the Raymond laboratory over the past 40 years contributed to understanding the molecular basis of cell-cell interactions that regulate retinal neurogenesis (the formation of neurons) and neuronal specificity (the expression of differentiated cellular features) during development and regeneration of the vertebrate retina. Most of their recent work used genetic models in zebrafish to investigate the regulation of retinal stem cells and to discover the mechanisms of pattern formation in the cone photoreceptor mosaic. Professor Raymond recently retired from active faculty duty and has closed her laboratory, but she continues to teach and to consult on activities related to equity, diversity, and outreach.
