About
Dr. Pichersky is interested in the mechanisms of origin of new biochemical functions in plants. Enzymes and genes responsible for the synthesis of specialized (i.e., "secondary") compounds involved in the interactions of the plant with its biotic and abiotic environments are investigated, and their mode of evolution over time is determined.
Dr. Pichersky received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Davis in 1984. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Rockefeller University from 1984 to 1987.
