MCDB Moving to New BSB
UPDATE: We've moved!
The long awaited move to the cutting edge $260 million Biological Sciences Building is underway.
The new home of the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology is shared with the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, staff for the Biological Station, and the staff and teaching collections for the Museum of Paleontology. The public Museum of Natural History will be reopen in the Biological Sciences Building in 2019.
The building is a series of three towers connected by two 5-story atria. It is connected to the Life Sciences Institute where some of the animals under study will be housed. It is also convenient to the Undergraduate Science Building, the site of the undergraduate teaching laboratories.
The Administrative offices are located on the 2nd floor of Tower C (the easternmost tower closest to Washtenaw Ave.)
The imaging facility and IT resources are located in the basement of the BSB.
Laboratory areas are shared spaces comprised of neighborhoods based on the research in a particular area.
- Biochemistry will occupy 5th Floor, Tower A beginning May 29.
- Plant Biologists will move into 5th Floor, Tower B beginning June 4.
- Neurobiology will move their labs to 4th Floor, Tower B beginning June 11 and others to 4th Floor Tower C beginning June 25.
- Cellular and Developmental Biology labs are moving to 5th Floor, Tower C beginning June 18.
