Sigal Yona is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Cinema and Media Studies at Ghent University. Her dissertation explores film exhibition and cinema audiences in early Israel, with a particular focus on films from South Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. Her research employs an interdisciplinary approach, combining archival and oral history methods. Her work has appeared in, or is forthcoming from, the Journal of Jewish Identities and the edited collections Multilingual Israel: Old Ideologies and New Realities and the Lexicon of Global Melodrama. She has previously taught at Vassar College and Middlebury College.
