The U-M Herbarium’s Brad Ruhfel and Anton Reznicek were recently featured on Michigan Public Radio’s Stateside to talk about the Michigan Flora app. Brad, Collection Manager in the Division of Vascular Plants and Assistant Research Scientist, and Anton Reznicek, Curator Emeritus at the Herbarium, to share the story behind the app, how it works, and how it can identify plants in the field, even without an internet connection. More than 20,000 downloads were recorded in its first month.
