H. Clayton Wickham

In addition to being a teacher, I am also a writer and a journalist.  After working in publishing and the non-profit sector, I began U-M’s Zell Writers Program with a focus on fiction writing. After my graduate work, I began teaching for the Comprehensive Studies Program.  Since then, I have taught English 125: Writing and Academic Inquiry, the  CSP 100 First-Year Seminar, and CSP 100: Exploring Success in College.  I have published fiction in the Chicago Quarterly Review, criticism at Lit Hub and MQR Online, and investigative journalism about incarceration for RVA Magazine. 

In May 2020, in my hometown of Richmond, VA, I helped found a mutual RVA26 Mutual Aid, a grassroots non-profit focused on racial equity and jail abolition. In addition to working part-time for CSP, I am also a helpline crisis counselor and a freelance writer and editor.
