Professor Su’ad Abdul Khabeer named one of CNN's 25 Influential American Muslims
CNN recently interviewed more than 100 American Muslims in search of the most influential Muslims in America. Su'ad Abdul Khabeer, associate professor of Muslim-American studies, was selected in the category of Education. Khabeer aims to bring attention to African-American Muslims and their experience of Islam, as well as the influence of Islam on African-Americans. Su’ad Abdul Khabeer is associate professor in the Department of American Culture. Her book Muslim Cool: Race, Religion, and Hip Hop in the United States is an ethnographic investigation of the complex identities formed at the crossroads of Islam and hip hop.
