Yehan He

Yehan He received her B.A. with honors and M.A. in Comparative Literature from Wuhan University. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of environmental anthropology, postcolonial studies, and riverine ecologies in Southwest China. Yehan’s research explores the entangled histories of indigenous botanical knowledge and water landscapes shaped by colonial expeditions and trans-regional flows since the 19th century. Her work particularly focuses on the Yangtze River and the transboundary rivers of Yunnan and mainland Southeast Asia. While trained in literary studies, her graduate research led her toward anthropology—specifically riverine anthropology—which investigates the multi-species relationships and socio-environmental transformations along major waterways.
