The University of Michigan (U-M) and the International Institute are proud to continue our tradition as a Top Producer of Fulbright U.S. Students and Scholars this year. This prestigious recognition from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs highlights the colleges and universities with the highest number of applicants chosen for the Fulbright Program.
The Fulbright Student competition is administered through the International Institute, with dedicated guidance from Fulbright Advisors Heather Johnson and Ann Takata. Their expertise, along with the support of the fellowships and grants team and mentorship from U-M faculty, plays a key role in guiding students and scholars through the application process.
As a faculty evaluator for U-M Fulbright fellowships, I’ve witnessed first-hand the quality of our applicants, says Johannes von Moltke, interim director of the International Institute. So while I’m not surprised by this wonderful news, I’m extremely gratified to see that quality translate into success. Our ability to secure this level of support for students and scholars from Fulbright is a testament not only to their brilliance and qualifications, but also to Michigan’s commitment to providing the resources and infrastructure that help applicants succeed. I couldn’t be prouder.
Congratulations to the 12 students and 10 scholars from U-M who have been awarded Fulbright grants for 2024-25! These students and scholars join the ranks of the more than 1,000 students and 600 faculty scholars that U-M has produced since the Fulbright program was introduced in 1946.
