ANN ARBOR, MICH., January 27, 2011—The University of Michigan International Institute announced today that three U-M scholars were awarded U.S. Department of State Fulbright Scholar grants to conduct research abroad.

The Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. These prestigious grants provide funding for recipients to lecture or conduct research abroad for periods of two to 12 months in 140 countries.

“We are proud of these scholars and their selection for this highly competitive grant,” said International Institute Director Ken Kollman. “The International Institute is committed to assisting U-M faculty and professionals who wish to apply for this program.”

Fulbright advisors at the II have been specially trained to advise faculty and professionals regarding the Fulbright Scholar Program and assist with the application process.

“The Fulbright Program advisor at the International Institute provided the foundational information I needed to write my project proposal,” said Molly Yunker, who received her doctorate from the U-M School of Education. “His detailed knowledge and insight proved invaluable to the success of my proposal.”
