Senesi studied changing Indian marketing practices during the recent period of economic liberalization. While interning at WebChutney, an advertising firm, he will conduct an organizational analysis of the firm in order to gain a better understanding of Western influences on media and youth, as well as the strain that these influences can have on parent-child relationships.
Robert Kellman, Near East Studies
Robert researched Indian youth culture through an examination of selected youth volunteer organizations in India. His goal was to understand the structure, objectives, and methods of the Indian youth movement by interviewing both Indian and non-Indian youth activists.
Andrew McBride, Women’s Studies
Andrew interned for the Humsafar Trust in Mumbai. Andrew’s project was to understand the mechanisms and intricacies of gay rights activism in north India. Such activism can be seen as part of a larger effort within India toward building a civil society in a large-scale democracy.
Emily Meza, College of Architecture and Urban Planning
Emily interned at Rahul Mehrotra Associates, an architecture firm located in Mumbai. Her goal was to seek a better understanding of Mumbai’s distinctive urban structure and specifically the role that architecture plays in defining social boundaries within the city.
Sushma Raghavan, LSA
Sushma interned at the Human Right Law Network (HRLN) in New Delhi. The HRLN is a non-profit NGO headed up by Supreme Court lawyers dedicated to advancing the rights of the disenfranchised, including dalits, children, farmers and HIV positive individuals through legal aid and public interest litigation.
