All students interested in a certificate in South Asian Studies must meet with an academic services coordinator prior to submitting an electronic application. Students must complete at least one term in their current U-M graduate/professional degree program before applying.

Current Rackham Students: A Rackham student must complete at least one term of study before applying for the Graduate Certificate in SAS. Applications must be received by January 15 for winter term, May 15 for spring/summer, or September 15 for fall term.

Statement of purpose that explains the applicant's interest in the Certificate Program and his or her background in South Asian studies
GRE scores (GMAT and LSAT scores accepted for applicants from professional schools)
Proof of English proficiency for non-native speakers of English.
It is also important that the student's home department or school is aware of his/her intent to pursue a certificate in SAS. The student will be personally responsible for letting the departmental advisor know of such intent, and the application will need to be approved by the home department.
