About

I am interested in exploring root causes of social issues in Arab, Middle Eastern and North African (Arab/MENA) communities in the U.S. diaspora. My current research centers on Arab and Arab American feminist knowledge making to conceptualize psychosociocultural phenomenon ‘3eib’ (عيب ), roughly denoting disgrace, dishonor or a type of ‘cultural’ shame. I work and create in interdisciplinary ways drawing from women and gender studies, psychology, and social work and am committed to centering Arab and Arab American feminisms in my pedagogy and research.
