Erin graduated summa cum laude from The College of Wooster in 2021 with a BA in History and Classical Languages. Her award-winning honors thesis, titled “Helen of Troy? A reexamination of Helen’s Speech in the Iliad,” argued that Helen builds a Greek and a Trojan persona in order to prevent or mitigate the trauma she experiences during the Trojan War. Between 2021-2023 Erin served in the Ohio History Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program that supports local history organizations by collaborating with them on capacity building projects. In 2024 she earned her MA from the University of Michigan’s Bridge MA program in Classical Studies. In 2025 she joined the Women’s and Gender Studies Graduate Certificate program.
While at Michigan, Erin hopes to continue and expand her research on how individuals use language and language systems to express their agency. Her other research interests include women and gender in antiquity, Homeric epic, historical linguistics, and museum studies. She is also excited to incorporate her background in community engagement with classical studies.
