Miriam Gleckman-Krut’s dissertation, "The Rainbow Nation and the Gays it Excludes: South Africa’s Management of Sexuality and Migration (1913-2020)” received an honorable mention by the selection committee for the 2025 ASA Dissertation Award.
Gleckman-Krut, former PhD candidate at U-M Sociology, currently works as a College Fellow in Social Studies at Harvard University. Her exceptional research explores the sociologies of “gender/sexuality, race/ethnicity, statecraft, and law, with substantive interests in colonial and postcolonial histories, migration, epistemology, and violence.”
