Assistant Professor Sarah Burgard has received the 2010 Distinguished Sociology of Population Paper Award from the Population Section of the American Sociology Association for her paper, co-authored with Shige Song, "Does Son Preference Influence Children's Growth in Height?  A Comparative Study of Chinese and Filipino Children," which appeared in Population Studies in 2008.
