The Know B4 U GO BLUE Preview Event is a collaboration between the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, select departments across the College, and the Rackham Graduate School to provide a funded opportunity to experience the vitality of the campus, meet faculty and potential graduate student peers, attend courses and seminars, and visit research labs to learn about select PhD programs.

This event is a funded opportunity to visit the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor to learn more about our PhD programs.
The list of participating PhD programs for the 2024 Know B4 U GO BLUE Preview Visit are:
Anthropology
Applied Physics
Astronomy
Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology
Covered costs include roundtrip airfare/train/bus ticket within the US, ground transportation from DTW airport to Ann Arbor, and shared-room hotel stay for duration of event. Scheduled meals are also provided.
Eligibility
Preview Events are open to juniors, seniors, recent grads & masters level students who are US citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients and are pursuing graduate school. Strong applicants are those who have outstanding academic qualifications, show exceptional potential for scholarly success in a graduate program, and demonstrate promise for contributing to wider academic, professional, or civic communities.
To qualify for this program, applicants must also meet ONE OR MORE of the following criteria:
- Applicant has led and/or substantially engaged in activities that broaden the participation of individuals with diverse backgrounds in the academic, professional, or civic realm;
- Applicant has experienced financial hardship as a result of family economic circumstances;
- Applicant has participated in programs in the Rackham application open to students from disadvantaged backgrounds;
- Applicant is a first-generation U.S. citizen in their family;
- Applicant is the first-generation of their family to graduate (or plan to graduate) from a 4-year college;
- Applicant is from an educational or geographic background that is underrepresented in their discipline in the U.S. or at U-M and/or holds membership in a federally recognized tribe.
