...the small class size that fosters a community feel and enables students to thrive in pursuit of their individual interests. My classrooms in CSP align closely with the way CSP functions in the context of the larger Umich experience: it is a tight network of support that was created in response to a need for a greater college experience through diversity and inclusion. At CSP, we teach classes in various subject areas, but we develop them with a robust antiracist pedagogy at their center to ensure that every student is included and their voices are heard.

...to be engaged in content that challenges them to think expansively. They will exchange ideas with each other, and explore ideas from multiple perspectives. Through strategies that include reflection and metacognition, they will also actively develop their skills to become more effective readers and writers. My goal is to foster student trust in the process of genuine inquiry. I aim to equip students with learning “tools” that will enable them to continue their academic growth even beyond my classroom.

...starting at U-M can be an overwhelming experience, and you are not alone in feeling lonely at the beginning of this journey. Many students express, initially, feeling out of place; remember that you’re here because you definitely belong. Instead of being hard on yourself, give yourself grace and time to find your way, and utilize the resources available to support you–even a conversation with your professors can go a long way. Finally, always find time to take a break.

...being the mother to two of my best friends, reading, and baking. I also write, and am currently working on pieces that range from academic to creative (fiction and nonfiction).
