CSP Courses

All CSP sections cover complete course syllabi and are designed for students who want to be certain that they develop a thorough understanding of the course material. Extra time is provided for in-depth analysis of central concepts.

Expectations for CSP Students
Students are expected to meet with their assigned advisor prior to their registration appointment in order to discuss their intended class schedule. It is important that students understand the nature of the class and the time commitment required for the course. CSP faculty work with our advising staff and provide guidance to help make appropriate course recommendations.

  • All CSP students have a responsibility as an active member of the CSP community to:
  • Attend all regularly scheduled classes
  • Actively engage in all classroom activities
  • Complete all assignments which provide an opportunity for regular feedback
  • Utilize faculty office hours on a regular basis

Registering for CSP Course Sections
Eligibility to enroll in a CSP section is driven by enrollment requirement groups. Each section will have seats reserved for one or more groups. Students may register anytime after their assigned registration appointment but must meet the conditions for at least one requirement group in order to enroll. Enrollment availability will be updated in real-time on Wolverine Access.

Enrollment Requirement Groups Criteria
CSP Students in the Comprehensive Studies Program
UBRG Y1 CSP Summer Bridge scholars in their first year
UCSP Y1 OR UCSP Y2 CSP students in their 1st or 2nd year (this group does not include transfer students)
CSP JR OR SR CSP students who have earned at least 55 credits
UGRD & GRAD All U-M undergraduates
*Please note that students may belong to one or more groups

Closed Course, Waitlist, and Override Information

If a section is closed, students will have the option to join the waitlist. Waitlists are maintained in Wolverine Access. If the course is not closed but a student is not eligible to register, the student should continue to monitor the course to see if the remaining seats will be released, or if the spaces fill and the waitlist opens. When a course section closes, students may contact the instructor of record to express interest in the course. If an override is granted by the instructor, please allow 2-3 business days for processing. Once an override has been processed, students will receive an email notification containing an expiration date by which registration for the class must be completed. If the override expires, students will need to request another override from the instructor.
