Dianne Widzinski Visiting Fellowship

The Copernicus Center for Polish Studies (CCPS) hosts the Dianne Widzinski Visiting Fellowship, a residential fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The fellowship was made possible by a generous gift intended to extend knowledge of contemporary Polish society and politics and provide Polish scholars with opportunities to conduct and share their research at the University of Michigan.

Applicants are invited to propose research projects on topics of vital importance in contemporary Poland, such as: rule of law, freedom of speech, women’s rights, issues of equity, and other social issues in Poland. Candidates must have current residency in Poland and possess excellent oral and written English language skills; proficiency will be verified.

Eligibility and Award Details
Up to four-month residential fellowship for scholars, artists, journalists, or public figures from Poland to pursue their research, art, or mission while engaging with U-M students, faculty, and the Michigan community. Engagement may consist of public lectures and participation in CCPS events. The specific term of residency will be designed with the CCPS director. Awards include round-trip economy class airfare to Detroit, Michigan; health insurance coverage; reimbursement for visa fees; professional development workshop; and salary commensurate with academic rank or experience.

APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT

  • A completed application form that includes:
    • A brief proposal (approximately 1,000 words) describing: a) past and current research, and b) plan for the visit at U-M
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • A copy of your doctoral diploma or highest degree received
  • Consent to participate in interview via Zoom
