We are excited to share an important new chapter for the Program in International and Comparative Studies.

Beginning in Fall 2027, every PICS major will complete a Practical Intercultural Experience, giving students the opportunity to take their International Studies education beyond the classroom and engage meaningfully with communities and organizations in Michigan and around the world.

To help make these experiences accessible to every student, regardless of financial circumstances, we are building a new source of scholarship support—and we have an extraordinary opportunity to double the impact of every gift.

A generous University of Michigan alum has committed $200,000 in matching funds. Every gift will be matched dollar for dollar until we reach our goal.

Together, we can unlock $200,000 in scholarship support, making it possible for students who otherwise could not afford the opportunity to participate. Every gift is matched dollar for dollar until the full $200,000 is met. Even more exciting is that the university offers a 1-1 matching opportunity for monthly donations up to $100 per month until July 2027. As well as a 1-2 match for first time donors of $50,000 or more.

Your support at any amount can help give PICS students the opportunity to take their education beyond the classroom and put it into practice.
