“The love of languages and cultures that I cultivated in PICS has profoundly shaped my career as an information professional. My passion for diverse narratives and histories first came alive through my senior honors thesis, which inspired me to pursue ambitious research goals. This led me to a dual master’s program in history and Library and Information Science, where I recently defended my Master’s thesis on the sonic regimes of violence in Modern Iraq.

Throughout my graduate studies, I’ve also been fortunate to work as an archivist, a role in which my language skills have opened professional doors. For instance, my Spanish abilities enabled me to work with archiving Latin American Music materials, a project that blended my academic background with my commitment to preserving cultural heritage. Now, as the Processing and Instruction Archivist at the University of Richmond, I use my creativity to introduce students to primary sources and guide them through historical inquiry. I also have the privilege of processing significant collections, including materials that belonged to Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker, a civil rights icon and Martin Luther King Jr.'s right-hand man.”
