Asia Library

The Asia Library at the University of Michigan houses one of the most comprehensive collections of East Asian materials in North America. The library holds nearly 800,000 volumes of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean monographs, 15,000 serials, and 80,000 titles of materials in microform. The library also provides access to a large number of electronic resources in East Asian languages.

Through the support of its generous donor, the Korea Foundation and Nam Family Gift, the Nam Center for Korean Studies (NCKS) expanded the Asia Library's Korean Collection from fewer than 100 books to more than 50,000. The volumes in the collection are written exclusively in Korean and are part of the Korea Foundation's Korean Collections Consortium of North America.

Access to these resources is available through U-M's Library Catalog and the shared databases of the OCLC WorldCat.

The University of Michigan Nam Center for Korean Studies offers travel grants for scholars of Korea to use the Asia Library in Ann Arbor MI. For application information please go to the Asia Library Travel Grants page.
