The Nam Center has also been awarded the (AKS) Strategic Research Institute Program by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS).
The University of Michigan East Asia National Resource Center is the co-effort of the Nam Center for Korean Studies, the Center for Japanese Studies, and the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies.
The Nam Center has also been awarded the status of Core University Program for Korean Studies (CUPKS) by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS).
Additionally the Nam Center is the administrative host of the BTAA Korean Studies e-School. One of the few consortiums to be officially designated by the Korea Foundation Global e-School Initiative, the BTAA e-School is composed of member schools in the Big Ten Academic Alliance, a group of 14 world-class research institutions that collaborate to share expertise and resources.
