Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow Application Procedures

The Nam Center welcomes affiliation requests from those applying for the Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship. The fellowship is funded and selected by the Korea Foundation's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Applicants must complete and submit the Korea Foundation application via the KF online portal by the Korea Foundation deadline. Be sure to verify and confirm the specific KF procedures by visiting the Korea Foundation website: http://www.kf.or.kr/ , as well as, the Korea Foundation application portal http://apply.kf.or.kr.

Selection by the Nam Center does not guarantee selection by the Korea Foundation, but the Nam Center will provide its selected candidate(s) with a formal letter to include in the KF application process. 

Required Application Materials

  • cover letter, addressed to the Nam Center for Korean Studies
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • Potential U-M faculty advisor(s) that the center can reach out to on your behalf

Office Space

The center can provide shared office space and basic office supplies. 

Scholarly Responsibilities

Postdoctoral Fellows affiliated with the Nam Center are expected to be active members of the center's intellectual community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Mentorship & Engagement: Supporting and helping guide the Nam Center Graduate Fellows program.
  • Regular Check-ins: Meeting monthly with their designated mentor or the center director.
  • Reporting: Submitting a comprehensive report on their research progress upon the completion of their fellowship.
