The University of Michigan Nam Center for Korean Studies held its inaugural manuscript workshop on May 12, 2018 (Sat), to offer two pre-tenure scholars in Korean Studies, preparing a book-length manuscript or other similarly substantial academic publication, with an opportunity to further develop their manuscripts for publication by offering participants the opportunity to receive constructive critical feedback on their manuscripts by senior faculty mentors.

The Nam Center seeks to develop a network of scholars in Korean studies, and the workshop participants are asked to serve as a discussant for one paper session of the 2018 International Conference of NextGen Korean Studies Scholars (NEKST), which is concurrent to the workshop on May 11-12, 2018. All participants are expected to attend NEKST and serve as a discussant for one of the NEKST paper sessions.
