Undergraduate Program

The major and minor programs in Latin American and Caribbean Studies are interdisciplinary and intentionally broad in scope, offering students a panoramic perspective of the region and the opportunity to specialize when appropriate. LACS honors majors work closely with faculty advisors, conducting in-depth investigations of particular areas of interest, which culminate in an honors thesis.

In support of these students, LACS offers resources and guidance to students interested in studying or interning abroad, as well as fellowships for students conducting research projects. Opportunities include Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for students studying Nahuatl, Portuguese, Quechua, and Yoruba languages, as well as the Boyce Family Caribbean Studies Grant, which prioritizes travel to the English-, French-, and Dutch-speaking countries of the region.
