Teaching Water and Environmental Justice: From the Great Lakes to Latin America

This event will bring together scholars, educators, and artists to provide Michigan K-14 teachers with context and resources for teaching about issues of water and environmental justice. We will explore place-based pedagogies to help educators connect water issues across local and global scales.
The workshop will offer materials and resources to help educators foster classroom dialogue through hands-on and interactive activities, including the use of print and visual multimedia.
The combined synchronous and asynchronous workshop will include a series of lesson modules and interactive teaching events with leading scholars and professionals in the field.
All registered participants will receive 8 State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).

Michigan teachers who register for SCECH credits will receive a book (Emily Wakild and Michelle K. Berry, A Primer for Teaching Environmental History, Duke University Press, 2018) and links to digital materials and resources for classroom use designed for the event by the speakers
