The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) together with the Brazil Initiative at LACS feature presenters from diverse disciplines. LACS organizes and sponsors more than 50 public lectures, workshops, performances, and conferences over the course of the academic year.

This workshop considers the interplay between law and human rights activism in three Latin American nations that underwent intense national processes of constitutional transformation as a result of broad-based social movements: Brazil, Cuba, and Chile. Papers presented at the Workshop will examine the place of feminist, Indigenous, and Afrodescendent social movements in shaping new norms; campaigns for rights to care; and revindications of reparations and housing rights.
