About
Nestor Barrera is the academic program manager of the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Michigan's International Institute. He holds a bachelor's degree in government and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's degree in social management from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
Nestor has experience working in the United States, Mexico, and Peru. In addition, he has developed over six years of experience in International Cooperation for Development. His focus has been on governance, rural development, poverty reduction, and social protection policies, much of this at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, where he served as a social policy analyst. Nestor has a track record of significant commitment to Latin America and the Caribbean and cultivated experience in generating and improving management processes that strengthen institutions and build stakeholder capacity.
