In fall 2018, students have the opportunity to perform in a play in Russian (and improve their Russian Skills or perform a play in English with Irina Khutsieva, a prominent Russian theatre director and RC artist in residence. This opportunity is:
- Open to all language/acting levels (incl. none)
- Course work can count towards your Russian minor or major (Slavic 315/RC Core 309, 1-3 experiential credits)
- No-credit participation may also be possible
- One weekly evening rehearsal
- Two performances in December
For Russianists, the program offers students the chance to make significant progress in the acquisition of language skills, while also benefiting from everything that comes from experience of performance.
For students of Russian culture and literature, the program offers further exposure to Russian culture, contact with the contemporary theatre, and, again, everything that comes from experience of performance.
For Russian majors and minors, the experiential courses available for election through the Slavic department and Residential College can be used for the Russian major and minor. Students must add Slavic 315/RC Core 309 by the September24, 2018 add/drop deadline. However, not-for-credit participation will also be available.
Information meetings will be held Tuesday, September 18, in room B852 East Quad at 4-5:30 (Russian-language production) and 6-7:30 (English-language Production).
