On Wednesday, October 23, the Slavic Department had the honor of hosting Marianna Kiyanovska, one of Ukraine's most celebrated poets, for a moving poetry reading. Marianna read from her award-winning collection Voices of Babyn Yar (transl. Oksana Maksymchuk and Max Rosochinsky) and engaged in a conversation with Alex Averbuch, discussing Ukraine’s past and present, the nation's complex history, examining both its tragedies and sources of inspiration, as well as Ukraine’s multicultural and multiethnic heritage.
