Alex Averbuch will launch his exhibit on the photography and correspondence of Ukrainian forced laborers (Ostarbeiters) in Nazi Germany at the Canadian Association of Slavists conference in Edmonton (May 8–10), followed by an installation at the University of Alberta's Rutherford Library (May 17–30). Featuring rare photos and personal correspondence, the exhibit reveals how Ostarbeiters used images and words to resist, remember, and communicate under totalitarian rule.
