Step 1 - MCompass Application
(Starting mid-September 2025) - Click here to begin your MCompass application.
Step 2 -Interview
Following your application submission, you will receive an email from SiD Associate Director Craig Regester or SiD Program Manager Rose Gorman to schedule an interview. Interviews are informal and are currently conducted in our office (1730 East Quad).
After the interview, SiD Staff carefully consider all aspects of the student's application and decide their status in the program. No more than 20 students are accepted into the program each semester. Once the program is full, students who would otherwise be accepted are put on the waitlist, or asked to reapply next year.
Note: your letter of recommendation does not need to be submitted prior to your interview. However, it does need to be submitted before we can issue a final decision about your admittance to the program.
Step 3 - Pre-Program Requirements
Once a student is accepted into the program, pre-program requirements are conveyed to successful students. All students selected for the 2026 Spring/Summer program are required to participate in the mandatory SiD Immersion Weekend in Detroit (Dates in mid-March 2026 TBD).
UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, & GVSU Students
In addition to UM-Ann Arbor students, UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, and GVSU students are eligible to apply. While most of the application process remains the same, interviews are conducted either on specific campus visit days or by Zoom.
