Detroiters Speak

History

For over 12 years, Semester in Detroit has organized community classroom events that are free and open to the public. In recent years, SiD has collaborated with Detroit community partners including: 482Forward, The James and Grace Lee Boggs School, Racquet Up Detroit, Detroit is Different, and the General Baker Institute. University partners have included Wayne State University's Department of African American Studies, the Detroit Equity Action Lab, and the UM Marsal School of Education's newest program - Learning, Equity and Problem Solving for the Public Good. This unique public series brings together Detroit community members, U-M + WSU students, alumni, faculty and staff to learn about Detroit's past and present.
