MCDB Seminar> Understanding Barrier and Sensory Functions of the Skin
Dr. Terry Lechler- Duke University
The skin is both an essential barrier and a highly innervated sensory organ. In this seminar, I will present two distinct areas of interest in the lab. 1. work showing that cell adhesions have novel functions beyond tissue integrity in compartmentalizing mRNA and regulating local translation, and; 2. how epidermal cells mechanically shape sensory neuron innervation in the skin.
