Meet Our Peer Advisors ...
Hello! My name is Kirsten and I’m a senior pursuing a double major in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) and Life Science Informatics (LSI). I’m also involved with the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) and have worked in a research lab for two years, doing both wet and dry lab work. I currently plan to pursue a PhD in genetics/molecular biology and hope to continue working both at the bench and computationally. In my free time, I enjoy playing the violin and viola in chamber groups, as well as baking. Please
feel free to come by to chat about research, double-majoring, classes, or any questions you have, and I’d be more than happy to help!
Hi! My name is Carlin and I’m a senior majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in English. I’m also currently working on my honors thesis on the long-term cognitive effects of concussions presented during exercise. I work in the Michigan NeuroTrauma lab, the ATHINA lab, as an LSA Honors ambassador, and I’m the senior editor for research at The Michigan Daily! I am very interested in cognitive neuroscience and am planning to pursue a PhD after graduation. Outside of the classroom, I am on the women’s club lacrosse team, I enjoy reading, and I love finding new music. Please visit my office hours if you have any questions or want to discuss your own academic journey with me!!
Hello! My name is Olive and I am a junior majoring in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity (EEB) with a minor in Writing and a minor in Environment. I am currently involved in research with the Baucom Lab and previously took classes at the Biological station. Outside of academics, I'm on the board of Students for Reproductive Rights and Justice, I'm an active member of Michigan Climbing Club, and I spend my free time reading or listening to podcasts and caring for my house plants. Stop by to chat with me about your academic path, having a minor (or 2), getting involved with research, going to the bio station, or anything else!
Tutoring Referral
The Program in Biology complies a list of possible tutors for our Program in Biology (all majors) undergraduate classes each semester. If you did well (B or better) in a Biology, EEB, or MCDB (or other major-related) course and feel like you would make a good tutor, please let us know! Many beginning (and continuing) students may benefit from your expertise.
We will compile a list and refer students to you as they request tutors. (You will be able to make arrangements directly with them.) Your information will not be published widely, but we will give the contact list to students who request a tutor for a course you have signed up for.
Students looking for Tutors: Check in with the Program in Biology office (lsa-biology-advising@umich.edu) for a list of possible tutors!
PLEASE BE AWARE: Tutors are not employees of the Program in Biology or the departments of EEB or MCDB. The Biology Office does not monitor the tutoring relationship. Qualifications, scheduling, and remuneration (if any) should be negotiated in advance between the student and the tutor.
