Meet Our Peer Advisors ...

Hello! My name is Olive and I am a senior majoring in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity (EEB) with a minor in Writing and a minor in Environment. I am currently involved in research with
the Baucom Lab and working on an honors thesis! I previously took classes at the Biological station and love to talk about my experiences there. Outside of academics, I'm on the executive boards for both Students for Reproductive Rights and Justice and the Michigan Climbing Club. I spend my free time reading or listening to podcasts and caring for my cat and house plants. Stop by to chat with me about your academic path, having a minor (or 2), getting involved with research, going to the bio station, or anything else!

Hi! My name is Violet and I am a senior majoring in Biology, Health & Society (BHS). I’m currently an undergraduate researcher for the Li Lab in the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) working towards an honors thesis. I also volunteer on campus at CS Mott Children’s Hospital in the emergency department and am a staff member for College Mentors for Kids. I am studying for the MCAT and planning to apply to medical school next year! In my free time I love to stay active and spend time with my friends. If you have any questions about the BHS major, the pre-medicine track, research, or anything else feel free to stop by and ask me any questions you might have—I'd be happy to help!

Hello, my name is Annie! I am going into my senior year and majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology (MCDB) and minoring in biological anthropology! I am currently doing molecular biology research in the Ohi lab in the Life Science Institute, and have also worked in the ECMO lab in Michigan Medicine's Department of Surgery. After graduation I plan to pursue a PhD program in cancer biology. In my free time I enjoy volunteering with elementary-high school students for STEM events, cooking, working out, and thrifting! If you have any questions about getting involved in research (through UROP or individually emailing, I've done both!),PhD programs and grad schools, volunteering, or anything else please feel free to comp in and say hi!

Hi! My name is Lily and I am a senior majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) with a minor in Business. I’m currently a research assistant in the Wu Lab in the Life Sciences Institute (LSI), and am also involved on campus with Dance Marathon (DMUM), Phi Chi Pre-Medical Fraternity, and Delta Gamma. I am taking the MCAT this summer and will be applying to medical school next spring! In my free time, I like to do yoga, read, and spend time with my friends. Come chat with me if you have questions about MCDB, independent research, doing a minor, or the pre-med track!

Tutoring Referral

The Program in Biology complies a list of possible tutors for our Program in Biology (all majors) undergraduate classes each semester.  If you did well (B or better) in a Biology, EEB, or MCDB (or other major-related) course and feel like you would make a good tutor, please let us know!  Many beginning (and continuing) students may benefit from your expertise.

We will compile a list and refer students to you as they request tutors.  (You will be able to make arrangements directly with them.)  Your information will not be published widely, but we will give the contact list to students who request a tutor for a course you have signed up for.

Students looking for Tutors:  Check in with the Program in Biology office (lsa-biology-advising@umich.edu) for a list of possible tutors!

PLEASE BE AWARE:  Tutors are not employees of the Program in Biology or the departments of EEB or MCDB. The Biology Office does not monitor the tutoring relationship.  Qualifications, scheduling, and remuneration (if any) should be negotiated in advance between the student and the tutor.
