Docents help with programs for groups and visitors, birthday parties, events, the museum store, the planetarium and much more. Docents receive extensive paid training in informal education, customer service and basic instruction in several natural history topics, including paleontology, wildlife and ecology. This is a paid position.
The museum typically hires new docents twice a year. Applications are available in August for positions beginning in September/October and in March for positions beginning in May.
The museum is currently accepting applications. Applications for docent positions beginning in May 2025 are due Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION:
To work at the museum, you must have 3-hour blocks of time available between 9 am and 2 pm on at least two weekdays and be able to work some weekends. Because of the nature of this position, a regular schedule is not possible.

Camp Explorations Summer Camp Counselors oversee and are responsible for the general welfare of their group of campers, provide instruction to camp participants for indicated activity or subject, and teach the associated knowledge and skills and assist campers in achieving activity or lesson goals. They are positive role models for children and teens and act in a caring, honest, respectful and responsible manner that is consistent with the mission of the Museum and University.
